This is where Kade had made it. Great. Maybe escaping wasn't as good of an idea as he had intimately thought. That was a lie. I had to be done. He couldn't kid himself. However, Kade was still paranoid as ever. He burned his clothes - which might have been a little unnecessary - and stole the clothes off of a petty thief trying to pick pocket him in his sleep. Such a poor lad. Kade had nothing on him, which was precisely the reason he needed to take the young man's tunic. He was poor. It wasn't much. It was perfect. Perfect for someone needing to blend in.
It had been around a week since he'd evaded the guards that day. On his back, was a small pack containing only a cloth hammock, whatever small food portions he could find, and a water canteen. His hood was drawn as he lurked around the marketplace of the ratty little village he had called home for the past few days.
Someone needed to get him out.

It went without saying a man like Trevor Marin benefited greatly from having his finger on the pulse of the city. Very little of note went on within the walls of Goldcrest without him knowing. Be it rumors of 'missing' cargo being moved through the port, dissension between emissaries in the Palladium Square or Enclave mages evading the Chevaliers and escaping into the night. It was especially troubling when these happenings involved people Trevor knew.
Thankfully, Trevor wasn't like the Chevaliers or City Guard. He didn't have to play by their rules making finding people, rogue mages on the run included, remarkably easy so long as his target remained within or around Goldcrest. Kade, even with all his talents, was no exception.
"You're drawing more attention to yourself with the hood." Trevor commented idly. He'd been leaning against a large post that anchored one of the heavier tents to the ground. It was easy to keep tabs on the rogue mage by throwing a handful of coin here and there at some of the kids who wandered around the refugee 'city'. "You're lucky I found you first." Trevor pushed off the wall and waved a hand as he started off in a different direction than Kade had been heading. "Now come on, let's get you out of view." There would be time to interrogate his longtime acquaintance on the reasons for his sudden departure from the Enclave but this certainly wasn't it.
Kade didn't really want to see Trevor. Not now. Not that he didn't like Trevor. He did. It was just at this time, Kade was... vulnerable. Paranoid. Trevor liked to poke, prod, and manipulate that vulnerable. At least, that's how Kade saw it. He sighed and stopped to look the man in the eye. "Who says I'm trying to not draw attention? Besides, you think a simple hood, is out of the ordinary here?"
As far as Kade could remember, Trevor liked to be right and take control of the situation. He wouldn't give him the satisfaction. He waited until, sure enough, Trevor assured that his presence was a blessing before offering to go and talk inside one of the nearby tents.
"How about... this..." Kade stepped back around another tent where no one could see him. He peered around the corner and blasted a merchant's cart in the marketplace. The wooden cart flipped and the commotion instantly rose. Kade evaded the scene and slipped away into a tent where someone had lived. Kade set his focus on Trevor. A little trick he'd learned from the Enclave. He watched as Trevor found himself pulled in the direction where had had lurked off to until they were both inside.
Trevor jumped, visibly wincing at the unexpected ruckus the mage had caused. Glancing over his shoulder at the overturned, destroyed cart, Trevor couldn't help shaking his head and letting out a low, frustrated sigh. This certainly wasn't his idea of keeping a 'low profile' and remaining subtle. Of course, what did he expect? Kade didn't have the experience in dealing with such things as Trevor. The merchant tried not to stereotype magic users but it did seem as though they tended to rely on their abilities a bit too much.
"Are you insane?" Trevor hissed once they were outside of earshot. "Do you want the Chevaliers to get called in?" He stepped up to Kade, not fearing the other man's powerful magics. Trevor was pissed and he didn't bother hiding it. "A mage escapes from the Enclave and suddenly rogue magic starts blowing up carts outside the city?" He pulled away with a huff of annoyance and lifted a hand to pinch the bridge of his nose.
"What were you thinking?" Trevor turned, his hands dropping to his sides as he looked to Kade again. "Do I need to remind you how little the Enclave likes it when their mages decide to leave?" Even anger and frustration couldn't keep Trevor's snarky sarcasm from bleeding through.
Trevor asked of his insanity. Kade shrugged. "You know I've never been completely... stable." He finished with a child like grin and sat on a nearby stool. Kade knew Trevor would get his panties in a twist. "It'll take awhile for the Chevaliers to get to me. It's been pretty out around here lately and some folks are just... Insane." He smiled at his friend. It's not like Trevor's reaction was wrong, Kade knew that. "I know you better than to think that we'll be staying here for much longer anyways. I'm sure you have somewhere much much better to hide me."
He listened as Trevor scolded him forward. "Trevor, you knew I wouldn't be able to stand it in there. Too many rules for me. I need excitement. Not books and regulations on my powers..." He trailed off before rolling his eyes. "Maybe that was a push for you to get me the hell out of here." He sniffed his shirt nonchalantly. "Everything around here is nasty."
Trevor's identity was no secret to Kade. "I mean, I didn't ask for you to be here. I probably need it, but... How about you take me to your golden palace. Show me the Marin wealth and fortune."
Trevor's expression show little amusement in the direction the conversation was going. While he could fully understand wanting to break free from the suffocating restrictions of the Enclave there was a distinctly right and wrong way to go about all this. Kade, in Trevor's best estimation, was sorely underestimating those who would seek him out and see him returned to the Enclave, or dead. "Only someone very stupid thinks the law is stupid." Trevor pointed out, glancing toward Kade as he issued a resigned sigh. "You forget I know far more about the Chevaliers and City Guard than I care to. If you believe they won't find you, especially when you're running around causing havoc, you're going to find yourself inside a hangman's noose before you realize it."
Trevor turned at Kade's unexpected and wholly pompous remark. He studied the rogue mage for a long moment before his head shook. He wasn't quite ready to dismiss the mage just yet, though his nerves had been tested the moment Kade opened his mouth. "Because you're my friend, I'll forget you said that." He said, another sigh escaping. "You should know better than to think it works that way. I can... hide you but given the number of nobles and dignitaries that frequent my estate, I doubt you'd be very safe in my 'golden palace'."
