Twenty-eight.

Order of the Chevalier.

Cold.
-As a member of the Chevalier, there is a strong sense of detachment that can be observed of Mr. Carstyn. He is calculating and controlled. Something about him seems almost too controlled. When asked, his response is the same every time. "I'm built to be controlled, to control and to maintain control." It is very robotic. As if he's void of all emotion. We proceed to seek out a response, any kind of emotional response from him.
Reserved.
-It is noted that Mr. Carstyn is very reserved about his history, the people that have shaped his own outlook of life and who influenced him to become part of the Chevalier. We asked about his parents and he responded with this: "I had an incubator and a sperm donor. The only influence I received from them was the way I look, and that was genetic influence, certainly nothing more." We are drawing a conclusion that Mr. Carstyn carries resentment towards his parents, or perhaps he never knew them. Whatever the reason behind his words, he remains stoic. And unresponsive.
Polite.
-Despite the invasive questions, Mr. Carstyn has remained polite and mannerly. He's been pleasant to speak with, even with the very little information we have received from him. Still, we're doing our best to initiate a reaction. On record, we have proof of a sibling, one that he may or may not know of and we decided to ask.
Strained.
-As we stated, we asked about a sibling that he is said to have. Immediately we noticed his jaw clench and his control slipped quite considerably. Although, he didn't outright say anything, his body language changed. He became, almost nervous, fidgety and on edge. He dismissed the idea of a sibling, but our resources say that there is a young mage with DNA very similar to his own.
What is your plan to make this world your own?
Family.
-On record, there is a sibling, but there is very little information on parents. When asked, Mr. Carstyn responded indifferently. He doesn't remember them, he was separated at a young age to begin training. He says that he has wanted to be part of the Chevalier all his life, to restore order to a world of chaos. His family, he says, is not like him. And as it is recorded, his sister is a mage and we assume that one if not both parents are mages as well. Perhaps a rogue? He remains quiet on the topic, so we decide not to push.
The Order.
-Mr. Carstyn speaks of the Chevalier with high regard. It is an honor to be apart of, and it instills great strength within him. We ask of the ritualistic ceremony of magic that has been described as torturous and cruel by some (often not by members of the Chevalier). As expected, Mr. Carstyn responds with the highest praise. It was an honor, a privilege to go through the ceremony and he mentioned nothing of the pain.
Significant Others.
-"None." He responds quickly, without fail and as firm as anyone could be. He's a true Chevalier through and through. But there must have been someone? Perhaps in his younger days? We ask again, hoping to dig a little deeper into his psych. What makes a Chevalier tick? Family...a sister. What about love? Was there ever one that got away before the Order took over? He stares ahead, but his mouth twitches. "I've told you, there is no one." We don't believe him so we intend to find out on our own.
Why are you so set in your ways?
Why.
-"After the Coterie, it was one of the only things that made sense. Magic is powerful and in the wrong hands, magic is dangerous. It is best to keep those who use such a strong entity in line because one mishap and the world could be at risk." It's all the same with these Chevalier soldiers. What makes him different? Are any of them different? "We're all human, we're all seeking a better, safer life. Not just for those of us who aren't equipped with magic, but also for those who are. Mages need guidance so that they don't hurt themselves. Who's to say if something happened because of a small mistake by an untrained mage it wouldn't result in that mage taking his/her own life because of the guilt alone?" He makes a good point, one that we haven't heard yet.
Do you think your work is making a difference?
Comments.
-"I know many of the mages don't like us, don't understand our purpose, but we are doing the best we can with what we are given. It's for the safety and resurrection of our world. We can make our world great again, if we just all work together as one unit. I do believe in our cause and I believe in results." Spoken like the rest, except we're sensing something much deeper within him, something untouched. Perhaps in time, there will be something or someone who finally reaches that part of him, but we have run out of time. And he stands to leave. Back to work.
