Today had been... eventful, to put it kindly. Raine would rather call it annoying than anything else. Long would be an accurate description too. Although it had been prosperous as well. She'd gotten a good amount of sales. For all intents and purposes, she should be happy. However, there were other factors in the equation that had made even these good points wilt.
The highlight of her day's problems had to be the news about a certain guard getting a little too curious for his own good. She'd only needed to talk to a few people to make sure the issue was properly addressed. She had no doubt that the problem would be dealt with in practically no time at all. Still, it had added a bit more stress. Some of the more "righteous" ones always tried to pry further into discovering business about the Guild. They never got very far, for plenty of reasons. Raine being one of them, when it suited her.
Then business had even been trifling. It had gotten to the point where Raine was actually looking forward to closing her shop. Those were rare days indeed. But she wasn't willing to close it early. Even with her eagerness to head home and sleep, she was more eager to get in coin. Which appeared to pay off, as she heard someone come in. Raine looked up from her writing. Put on her smile. Even in her mood, it came easy. She had years of practice. "May I help you?"

"Now remember. Smile, and shut up." Ryan instructed while they headed into the Coinpurse. They'd done a job and gotten more than expected. Mainly due to Russell's swift and eager hands snatching up extra jewelry that he assured wouldn't be missed. The man in question was looking hurt.
"Are you saying I'm just a pretty face?"
Ryan rolled his eyes and shoved his twin aside before proceeding into the shop with a smile. Russell followed, chuckling. "Hello! Sorry to come in so late, but we've got some 'hot' items we'd like to sell as soon as we can."
"Some of our mother's old jewelry."
Ryan eyed him with a look. "What did I say about not talking?"
"Oh you actually expected me to listen this time?"
The men who walked through the door sparked a bit of recognition in Raine's eyes. Professional thieves, they were. She kept note of all the members of the guild who managed to make a name for themselves. That didn't mean she forgot the more obscure members, but she prioritized some members over others.
The banter between the two was slightly amusing, but Raine focused on deciphering it. They had hot items to sell and from their words it was jewelry. They must've done a burglary job of some sort recently. Raine's smile widened as she put aside her things. "Jewelry is it? Please, allow me to take them off your hands. Especially if you're in such a hurry to sell." She responded, in full business mode again.

"Well you see, our 'mother' had a pretty extensive collection." Ryan pulled out the various baubles Russell had swiped from their most recent house. Almost all of them had some sort of gem, with one necklace in particular sporting an enormous green rock encased in gold.
"I have no idea how our mom managed to wear that without breaking her neck."
"Obviously mom has a stronger neck than meets the eye." Both of them were smirking and Russell snickered.
"Super neck. The worst super power I've heard of. Unless you're calling mom an old lady."
Ryan pointed a finger at him with a look. "Don't you dare tell mom I called her an old woman." He warned. "She'll make me go to bed without supper again." Then he looked back to Raine with a smile still on his face. "So! How much would you say these are worth?"
The moment the good were on the time, Raine's eyes flew to them. She listened idly to the twins speak, but her main focus was on the jewelry. They looked expensive enough, and almost all of them had gemstones of some sort. The very necklace the two were playfully discussing was the one that caught her eye the most. She picked it up and observed it closely with a keen eye. If it was an emerald, then it would be of impressive value just by itself.
What did she think this was worth? Raine flashed him a smile before her attention was again on the necklace in her hands. She hummed pensively for a few seconds before putting it down. "Well judging from my knowledge of jewelry, it appears your... Mother was in possession of quite a few trinkets. I can give you 500 gold for the whole lot." She replied.

"500?" Ryan repeated, frowning slightly. He was no merchant, but he'd seen his fair share of jewelry from their work. This woman was driving a hard bargain. Russell went silent after hearing his brother's tone.
"Now I may not be a stonecutter, miss, but over our time working we've- I mean, our mother has acquired a numerous amount of jewelry, so I know for a fact that big green monster is an emerald." He tapped the rock with his finger before holding it up by the chain. "This is a good sized sample, and would be worth a great amount by itself." He put it back down and crossed his arms.
Thus began the haggling portion. He had, as Raine had deduced herself, noticed that the large green gem was in fact an emerald. It was valuable and therefore increased the price of all the baubles before her. He wanted 650 for it instead. Raine pursed her lips and picked up the stone once again. "You are right that this is an emerald. It would make this more valuable than any of the other things in this bundle." She admitted with a shrug.
"But I am not in any dire need of emeralds." She added, putting the necklace back down and eying Ryan. She gave him one of her sweet smiles with a hint of a bite to it. "So the highest I would raise it to is 550. Either take it or leave it." She shrugged her shoulders. "Others will try to buy it for much less."
