Born to a family of the Coterie - a family with a long line of mages, but having no powers of her own. Alongside her brother, Lucy breathed and bathed in the never ending light of disappointment. She could see it all around her. As she and her brother grew older, so did the resentment. Blue eyes turned away from the world - the light faded and was replaced by shadows.

"Let your enemies be disarmed by the gentleness of your manner,
but at the same time,
let them feel the steadiness of your resentment."

The older they grew, the worse it became. The resentment, the loathing and the disappointment. Things children should never feel from their parents - though, it taught the siblings a valuable lesson. They could only rely on each other. They were all they had. So they ran. Ran away, far from what they'd once called home. An empty place holder containing no love.

"You don't need water to feel like you're drowning,
do you?"

Goldcrest was their flagged mark. A bustling city where two children could lose themselves. Hide among all their unfamiliar faces. So they did. They changed their ways and their names. They became hunters - hunting to make a living. Hunting to stay busy and occupied. 

"But if I sit in the rain,

maybe I can drown

in something other than

my own thoughts."

A resentful mind grew battered and rough around the edges. He was her only tie, her only reluctant bond to her humanity. The shadows grew closer, closing over her mind like a veil of darkness. She bathed in it - loved it, even.
