MISC: A scar running down the line of her back. Also, Erika tends to spit on society's rules on how women should dress, and instead of wearing dresses (she wears them when she really have to, mind), she wears leather pants that's far too tight and often gets her a few glares from the nobles and a black corset on top of a white, frilly shirt.
PERSONALITY: Erika is sassy and fierce. She doesn't back down from a verbal fight unless she knows it's lost. Her life as a pirate has made her a little rough around the edges and she doesn't exactly behave like a proper lady; she drinks, she swears and she gets into fights. Erika still hasn't come to terms with her past and what she is, and she does everything in her power to hide that fact. She wishes she was a normal human being, without her ties to the world of magic.
Erika has a big heart, though, one she doesn't let show easily. Her circle of close friends is small and she would be able to count them on her fingers. Erika is also proud - to a fault and equally stubborn. She tends to get ahead of herself and more often than not, makes rash and reckless decisions, not fitting for a captain of a pirate ship. But regardless and despite being a woman, she has a way of demanding respect - which she often get----------------------------------------------------------------------------- the history --
Erika was born in Abrea - her family had once been a formidable mage family, though over the years, that fame and glory had dwindled. Erika herself looked upon magic as something that was inhuman and wrong. Despite her feelings towards it, she underwent training (She had a gift for life magic, according to her tutors) like any other kids her age. At least, until the age of fourteen, when Erika decided this wasn't the life she wanted for herself. Her relationship with her mother had been tight, but she'd always loathed her father for forcing their way of life upon her. So she ran away, tossing everything she had learned about magic away and promised herself she would never return.
She found herself in Goldcrest then, afraid, but also looking forward to this new way of life and what it could potentially bring her. She started working as a maid at an inn until she was fifteen years old. Then she met the former captain of the Black Dagger and somehow - even to this day, she's not sure how - impressed the old captain and he took her in, much to his crew's disdain. Naturally, having a woman on the ship meant bad luck, but Erika found her place and earned their respect over the years.
When Erika turned nineteen, the captain fell ill. His sickness only worsened over the next few months and when he died, he gave Erika the control over the ship - on one condition; she had to once again earn the respect of the crew and prove herself as a fitting captain. This took the young brunette three years, and then, she was finally and officially the captain of the Black Dagger.
Life continued after this (of course) and Erika embraced her new found position. She still, to this day, keeps a wrap on her heretic, though, a few close people know who she really is. Due to the lack of training, Erika's magic comes out in spurts of chaos - especially when she least wants it too. Thankfully, she doesn't consider herself a particularly strong mage, so she usually manages to play it off as something else.
