The market square. The only place she was familiar with. The only place she needed to be. The rest of the city could stay a mystery. It was less risky. On the off-hand chance someone would recognize her. Though she doubted that would happen. She wasn't as important to warrant much identification. She was Mason now. A hunter. Simplistic. Forgettable.
Except by her. The reason she was there in the first place. The only one she cared to remember her. The blacksmith girl with sun kissed hair. Ruth smiled just thinking about her. It only grew wider when she actually spotted her. Working again. Ruth paused and waited for her to notice first. Meanwhile, she observed. Watched with keen dark eyes. She wouldn't mind waiting for a while.

The common phrase was that "all work and no play made Jack a dull boy." However Charlie absolutely loved her work. There was just something she loved about shaping metal and working with her hands. Her father had long since learned that she was very capable on her own in their forge. So he'd given her free reign and let her do as much work as she pleased. Which at the end of the day ended up being a lot most of the time. It came as no surprise that Charlie was swiftly catching up to the skills of her own mentor. It wouldn't be long before they were practically equals.
Currently Charlie's focus was solely on the burning hot piece of metal before her. Her hammer fell time and time again as she worked to shape it down into a new sword blade. She'd folded the steel a few times already, but wanted to keep going to make it perfect. It was only in a Chance look up that she spotted the very familiar and very welcome figure of Ruth. "Ruth! How long have you been standing there?" She questioned, blowing one of her stray hairs away that managed to escape her ponytail.
She was obviously very invested in her work. Ruth took her time appreciating the other girl. She didn't look like a blacksmith initially. Yet watching her hammer away showed obvious skill in the craft. Eventually she looked up. Acknowledged Ruth's presence. She smiled and approached. "A while, but don't mind me." She loved seeing her work. Much like she loved seeing Ruth work. It was a weakness they both shared.
She eyed the loose strand Charlie blew away before halting a few feet away. The hot piece of metal created a sort of barrier between them. One Ruth wanted dispelled, but she could be patient. In her line of work, that was key. Her eyes flicked back up from the burning steel. "A new order I'm guessing."

She been standing there for a while? Charlie mightve felt self-conscientious of the fact if she were anyone else. A light blush may have come to her cheeks, though it was hard to tell with how hot the forge was naturally. Red faces were a common sight to behold when she had to deal with the heat within the place. This time, Charlie was grateful for it.
Was it a new order? "Yep. Just got it today, so I hope to finish it today too. Shouldn't be much longer." She responded. Somehow the last bit felt like something Ruth was going to ask, so she added it. She resumed her hammering, but her attention was split. It was a little hard not to keep at least half of it on her visitor. For a variety of reasons that Charlie really shouldn't be thinking of. Though it made her remember something her thoughts could safely linger on. "Your arrows are done by the way. They're over there on the table." She added with a gesture."
Her face was red. Redder than usual. Was she blushing? It was harder to tell with the heat. But her attention shifted when she answered It was an order. One she wanted to finish today, and shouldn't take much longer. That made Ruth smile. An idea was forming. One she doubted Charlie would say no to. Even if she tried, Ruth would persuade her.
Her arrows were done. Ruth glanced to where Charlie gestured. There they indeed were. She retrieved the bundle and pulled one out to test. Though she didn't need to. She had made them after all. Which meant they would be perfect for the job. Still, a habit was a habit. Ruth checked the point while walking back to Charlie. When it pricked her finger, she smiled. Turned her gaze from grey to blue. "Perfect as always." It was both compliment and fact, given with a smile.
Yet she wasn't forgetting her idea. "Since you're almost done, how about you take a little break and come grab a drink with me?" She added a smile to the offer. "I'm sure after working so hard, you must be hungry."

It was hard not to watch her walk away, even if Charlie knew she should continue working. But she couldn't quite start until Ruth started turning back around. Her gaze snapped back to the metal and she continued. But once again Ruth managed to grab her attention. Perfect like always? She could definitely feel a blush but tried laughing it off. "Well you know... I try." She replied. It was a weak response, and knowing the huntress she'd see right through it.
Did she want to take a break to get some food? Once again Charlie's eyes flicked from her work up to the woman standing before her. It was a very tempting offer indeed. "I'd have to talk to my..." She trailed off her response when she realized she'd have to talk to Rhett. Who would no doubt tease her horrifically if she had to tell him she was "running off with the huntress" again. Charlie clenched her jaw and glanced to where Rhett was currently working. Fortunately his back was turned, but Charlie had a strong feeling he knew Ruth was in the forge. "Actually you would have to ask him this time." She said instead, looking back at the woman.
